WHY BRACE UP POST COVID-19?

Now that the Federal Government of Nigeria has eased lockdown, businesses will gradually pick up but the way businesses are done will change forever. Are you ready for the ‘new normal? We have come up with some crucial developments everyone should expect post-Covid-19, because this crisis will forever change the way business is done.

Customer and Business Behaviour

As a result of the stay-at-home order and lockdown around the world, customer and business behavior will change. Customers will prefer to stay at home and buy their groceries, and other valuables than be in a physical store. Businesses will also start to deliver automated services, increased network flexibility and technology-enabled solutions that position customers and businesses well for the future.

Virtual Workplace (Working from Home)

Most businesses never thought the reality of working from home would be an option before now but since physical workplace are closed, employees have found a work-life balance while working from home. People whose jobs are not tied to a physical location are most expected to work from home.

Virtual Meeting

As I type this, businesses are taking their meetings, conferences, training, workshops and seminars to ZOOM, SKYPE, WHATSAPP video and the likes. People are keying into virtual meetings. People who would typically meet face-to-face now meet via these options. Physical rooms do not need to be scheduled and then you won’t run out of space.

Online Presence

If your business does not have an online presence you are in for a joker. Businesses are shifting their focus away from offline business to online businesses. A website and other social platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Google my Business helps you to stay connected to your customers during and after COVID-19.

Online Banking

Not all businesses in Nigeria believe in online banking, they prefer to physically be in the bank to withdraw and deposit money. This will also change because the banking industry is finding ways to make both customers and banking officials safe. Different ways to ensure these are already being put in place to curb the spread of the virus.

On average, it takes at least 2 months for a consistent act to become a behavior. Most country’s lockdown have lasted an average of 2 months. During this period, businesses have been transacted online, employees work from home, shoppers shop directly from their mobile phones and personal computers. Meetings are also being held virtually as well. With these in mind, I believe the future is just about to change and change for good.

So, therefore, create an online presence, work from home and then get prepared for the ‘new normal’ after COVID-19
